Welcome to the Westcombe Hill Nature Reserve Burial Site.
The site is at Somerton, Somerset and is a "green" burial ground set in acres of beautiful countryside. This is a place where mourners can find peace and tranquility while the dead truly rest in peace.
You will find more information in the pages of this website, or you can download an information booklet with an application form by clicking on the link to the left.
If you are thinking of a "green" burial for yourself or a loved one, then you are most welcome to visit and have a look around. But be warned, it is not like a city burial ground, so you will need good shoes and should be prepared to walk a little way, but it is well worth the effort because you will be rewarded by a splendid view across to Glastonbury Tor.
The Butler Memorial Trust
The Butler Memorial Trust is a registered charity set up in 1998 by Barbara Butler in memory of her parents. The Charity aims to provide and administer private sites for “green” burials. The Westcombe Hill site is at present the Trust”s only site and has provision for up to 300 burials.
The Trust is administered by a small group of volunteer trustees committed to running the site in such a way as to provide a more natural, tranquil and environmentally harmonious alternative to conventional burial grounds.
